The Centrally located Royalton Barracks has an interesting area in which to work. They are one of two barracks (with Rockingham) that covers three counties, and also one of two barracks (with St. Johnsbury) that covers two Interstates. With their central location, the barracks is also a common meeting and training location.
In Orange County, we cover the towns of Braintree, Brookfield, Chelsea, Strafford, and Tunbridge, while supporting the Municipal Randolph Police Department. In Windsor County, we provide police service to the towns of Barnard, Bethel, Bridgewater, Hartland, Norwich, Promfret, Plymouth, Reading, Rochester, Royalton, Sharon, Stockbridge, and West Windsor. We also provide assistance as requested to the Hartford, Randolph, and Woodstock Police Departments. At the west edge of our patrol area are the Addison County towns of Granville and Hancock.
We are also responsible for 35 miles of Interstate 89, beginning at the New Hampshire border, as well as 21 miles of Interstate 91. Included in this area is the busy junction between these two interstate highways.
Once known as the Bethel Barracks, due to the proximity to the center of Bethel, the Royalton Barracks still has a Bethel mailing address.
