Support Services
The Support Services Division is likely the most diverse of the three division within the State Police. Commanded by Major William Sheets - who also serves as the Department's Executive Officer - the division is responsible for providing the support necessary to keep the other divisions operational.
Fleet Services has the responsibility of maintaining the State Police's fleet of vehicles, no small task considering the demands of police work and Vermont's weather. The Division also oversees the Department's Staff Operations Section, as well as the Public Informaion Officer, and Internal Affairs.
Staff Operations
Within the Support Services Division, the Staff Operations Office oversees the Office of Professional Development, responsible for the recruitment, selection and training of new Troopers, as well as the continuing training of our current force.
The Office of Technology Management maintains the departments computer network, including the mobile data computers in many of the marked cruisers. They also keep track of department cell phones and pagers, as well as other technologies.
Staff Operations oversees the Executive Protection Unit, who provides security to Vermont's Governor and visiting dignitaries. Staff Operations also administers the State Police Alarm Program.
