THE APPLICATIONS HAVE CLOSED. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR A VERMONT STATE TROOPER POSITION UNTIL MID-JUNE. WHEN WE OPEN THE POSITIONS, WE WILL POST THEM ON THIS PAGE!
Before you apply online, read the Basic Requirements AND the FAQ to ensure you are eligible! Many applicants fail to do this, and waste time and money traveling to compete for a position when they are ineligible.
There are TWO STEPS TO THE APPLICATION PROCESS!
STEP 1: APPLY ONLINE...
...Our application is hosted by the Department of Human Resources. You will be required to create a free user account in the Human Resources system. Once that is done you will be able to apply for a job. The position of Vermont State Trooper is listed under the "Protective Services" job category as Trooper 1/c. Visit the Department of Human Resources site where you may complete the State of Vermont on line application for Trooper 1/c as described above. Click here for instructions if you are having problems filling out the application with DHR.
STEP 2: SEND DOCUMENTS...
...Upon completion of your on-line application through the Department of Human Resources website, you MUST send the Office of Professional Development/ Training Division, an Applicant Contact Information form, along with a copy of your Birth Certificate, a copy of your High School Diploma or transcripts, a copy of your DD-214 if you served in the military, a photocopy of your Driver's License. These items must be sent to:

It may take up to ten (10) days for us to receive the on-line application from DHR. Once we receive your application and the above requested items, you will receive a confirmation from us regarding your Phase I testing.
