Vermont State Police Continue the Investigation into O’Hagan Homicide

Sheffield, VT –September 10, 2012, will mark two years since the murder of Pat O’Hagan. The Vermont State Police continue to make progress in the investigation and this case remains a top priority.  Detectives continue to pursue all tips and information and they are coordinating efforts with the Attorney General’s Office and the Caledonia County State’s Attorney.

Members of the Vermont State Police will be at the Sheffield Field Day on Monday, September 3, 2012 to interact with the community and receive tips about Pat O’Hagan’s murder.

To date, scores of individuals have been interviewed, evidence has been recovered and forensic testing has been conducted.  Over the past twelve months, the public, and particularly members of the Sheffield community, have been extremely helpful in providing key information in connection with this investigation. We believe that there still may be individuals who have not come forward who may have important information regarding this case and urge anyone with any information regarding this crime to contact the police.

We want to remind the public of the following facts:  Pat O'Hagan lived at 3064 Route 122 in Sheffield and was last seen alive on September 10, 2010.  Her body was found on Horn Road in Wheelock Vermont on October 3, 2010.  This location is approximately ten miles from her home.  Mrs. O'Hagan was very active in the Sheffield community and was known to many.

On behalf of the O’Hagan family we share the following statement:

On the two year memorial of the death of our mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, it is still impossible to comprehend why someone would harm her. She was a wonderful person who was loved by many. She taught us the true meaning of family and faith, both of which became the foundation upon which we stood throughout this investigation. She will be forever missed and never forgotten.

We are thankful to have the support of the VSP on the investigation into what happened to our mother. We appreciate all of the work done so far by the Vermont State Police and we have every confidence in their ability and dedication to solving this case.

We have been blessed with great support from our extended family, good friends and the local community as we deal with the effects of these past years. It is for this reason we remain steadfast in our commitment to working with the state police to identify and prosecute those responsible for this terrible crime. It is imperative that justice be achieved, bringing peace of mind and security to Sheffield and the greater Northeast Kingdom.

We continue to receive notes of condolence and support along with thoughts of encouragement, kind remarks and stories about our mom.  As we reflect on this two year anniversary of her disappearance we are comforted in knowing that her life in Vermont was shared with loving friends.

The Vermont State Police and the O’Hagan family would like to remind the public that a $25,000 reward is available for information leading to an arrest and successful prosecution of anyone responsible for the abduction and murder of Pat O’Hagan.
