Special Teams

The Vermont State Police have a variety of special teams that were created within the department in an effort to better serve the citizens of Vermont and effectively manage specific types of unusual incidents. The teams include: the VSP Bomb Squad Team, Crisis Negotiation Unit, Critical Incident Dispatch Team, Underwater Recovery Team, Search and Rescue Team, K-9 Team, Honor Guard, Crash Reconstruction Team and the Tactical Services Unit.

These teams are comprised of State Troopers and commanders (team leaders) who perform these duties in addition to their standard work assignments. Team members train on a regular basis to ensure that they are proficient in the specific field relative to their team’s specialty.

These teams are available to assist not only local Vermont State Police Commanders managing incidents in their respective barracks area, but are routinely deployed to assist state, municipal, county, and federal law enforcement agencies as well as offer assistance in natural disasters in our villages, towns and cities.

The Vermont State Police stand ready to assist federal, state, county, and local agencies in times of crisis.  Agencies requesting the team's services, can do so through their local VSP barracks.
