The Office of Professional Standards

The Office of Professional Standards falls under the Support Services Division and oversees several operational functions of the department.

Professional Standards

In 2017, the Vermont State Police was accredited by CALEA, the standard for law enforcement accreditation throughout the country. Our Professional Standards unit works to ensure continued compliance with those standards.

Fair & Impartial Policing

The Vermont State Police is committed to fair and impartial policing and has developed and implemented a comprehensive program to ensure fair and impartial policing practices at all levels of the state police.

Internal Affairs

The citizens and visitors of the State of Vermont have an expectation that the conduct of those who have the responsibility of enforcing the laws of the state are held to the highest standards. It is the Office of Internal Affairs' mission to assure that the Vermont State Police uphold the expected conduct standards.
