Members of the Vermont State Police have been involved in 43 officer-involved shootings since 1977, when VSP recordkeeping on the subject began. In 41 of the cases, the use of force was found to be justified following outside, independent reviews of the incidents. Reviews of the two most recent cases are pending. Information regarding these incidents is collected by the state police on a case-by-case basis and will be updated as needed. This page was most recently updated on July 1, 2019.
