Case number: 2005-88-02887

On 05/15/88 an individual fishing in an area located approximately 1 mile south of the Canadian Border near the Cannan / Averill, VT town line, located human remains.  These remains were transported to the OCME where they were determined to be that of a 16 to 22 year old white female but were not positively identified at that time (Jane Doe).  The death was ruled a homicide. It was further estimated that the victim (Jane Doe) had died 3 to 5 years prior to her discovery, placing the time of death sometime between 1982 and 1987.

Attempts were made to identify the remains using dental records, but were unsuccessful.  The investigators attempted to link the remains to multiple missing person’s cases but were unsuccessful.  The hair and skull were submitted to the FBI lab.  The FBI created a facial reconstruction.

The victim was later identified as Chantel Sauriol. Ms.Chantel went missing from Montreal, Quebec in 1987.  Investigation revealed she was homeless at the time of her disappearance. This case remains an unsolved homicide.
